Azure Engineer
Role description

About the role: This successful candidate will work within a tightknit team of specialist Microsoft resources within a Microsoft only organisation. Ideal for a candidate whom can work autonomously and is constantly seeking to improve their ability.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the following activities, at the least, as part of their role as an Azure / 365 Engineer:
Deploying Office 365
- Deploying O365 ProPlus software to end users, resolving any software installation issues that arise. Deployments will be based on agreed deployment schedule.
- Completing all pre-deployment checks and Office 365 mailbox pre-migration activities to ensure successful software deployments and mailbox migrations to O365.
- Migrating mailboxes from on premise Exchange to Microsoft’s O365 Exchange Online platform and resolving any migrations issues that arise. Migrations will be based on an agreed migration schedule.
- Tracking and validating successful software deployments and O365 Mailbox migrations.
- Completing all post-O365 migration activities to clean-up on premise Exchange mailboxes and EV as required, in timeframes agreed to by the Service Owner / Project Manager.
- Deploying Azure Active Directory Connect software, resolving any installation issues that arise and configuring Single Sign On for customer environments.
Azure Site Recovery / Disaster Recovery as a Service
- Gather customer DR requirements and implement Azure Site Recovery Disaster Recovery Plans, document solution and failover steps.
- Manage and facilitate orderly failovers into segregated Azure environments with customers using ASR.
- Gather customer Backup requirements, design and implement Backup plans, including the deployment of Microsoft SCDPM to enable on premise backups.
Firewall as a Service
- Coordinate with customer to gather required requirements for port forwarding, VPN, SSL Certificates, Public IPs
- Understand Public IP and application presentation limitations within Azure as relating to exposing applications publicly (NAT Rules and Azure NSGs).
- Deploy Azure resources to support FWaaS using scripted and repeatable templates.
- Perform Move, Add, Changes as relating to customer URL Filtering lists, Port Forwarding, VPN changes.Facilitate cutover from existing customer internet solutions to Azure based internet breakout in an orderly manner including managing stakeholder communications and expectations using email and phone.
Project Work
- Actively acquire knowledge of our customers environments to enable projects to be delivered smoothly.
- Produce regular program status reporting on project activities as required.
- Assist in developing business cases for customer environments based on requirement assessment and existing infrastructure.
- Actively work to automate and script repeated processes or tasks.
Managed Services
- General Office 365 administration including archive, litigation hold & licencing for our customers as required.
- Provide level 3 support for Email and Collaboration Service support for our customers as required.
- Manage relationship with Service Desk team including maintaining;
- Customer Wiki documentation
- Customer Monitoring Dashboards
- Implement and improve “operational handshake” process between Azured L3/L4, Service Desk, third parties and customer support to facilitate the clear handling of support issues between multiple parties without the loss of accountability or responsibility for a given issue.
- Provide level 3 support for Azure infrastructure and PaaS services for our customers as required.
- Deploy PRTG monitoring solutions for customers including the creation of Dashboards showing customer and service desk relevant information.
- Review customer environments to understand potential improvements within their environment as relating to their Azure roadmap or service improvements becoming available within Azure.
- Create support documentation to enable the smooth transition of support activities between support resources.
